Meet Adriana Cârnu, a scholar of belonging and communities, who has dedicated her career to making a lasting impact in the field of community development and education since 2004. In 2010, driven by a profound intention to transform the social architecture of rural communities in the South East of Romania, she co-founded Sigma Association, a dynamic platform for social change. The platform became the driving force behind numerous pioneering projects and activities centered around community development innovation, social inclusion policies, and education. Sigma Association successfully secured over 2.5 million euros in funding, leading to remarkable growth and development in the local region.
Coach, trainer, facilitator, and therapist, her expertise extends far beyond the realms of project management and grant writing. Adriana’s passion for non-formal education and youth development has steered impactful volunteering projects and facilitated the growth of aspiring youth workers. Her focus on research and piloting in the field of non-formal education has enabled her to craft innovative and effective learning experiences for diverse communities.
At the core of Adriana’s approach lies a deeply ingrained belief that the well-being of a community should be self-determined. She embraces the role of an agent of change, skillfully holding space for the design and implementation of deep systemic transformations. Her community mantra revolves around process designing, where she expertly coaches, hosts, and facilitates group transformation with a keen eye for fostering holistic growth and empowerment.

Jolly is a vibrant, kindhearted, charismatic and an outsmart person whose zeal towards community transformation is evident by her work.
While in leadership with Invisible Children, she was directly involved in the Juba peace process under civil society organizations. Following her captivity, Jolly went back to fully support education as the best chance for bringing about peace and transformation in this country. In 2001, she was offered a new life in the United States but declined, because she felt she had been blessed to return to her family and the community she grew up in and that she has an obligation to help other women and children. Jolly Okot’s early war- ravaged life in Northern Uganda inspired her to bring support and advocacy to displaced persons and formerly abducted children.
She developed many successful programs, including the Legacy Scholarship, which placed 6,000 girls and about 4,000 boys in school; Oversaw the construction of 11 government schools worth 20 million USD and aided in rural economic development.
Today Jolly oversees operations for Wend Africa, a social enterprise organization she founded in Uganda and registered in the US which helps women provide for women empowerment, employment and education and oversee an Investment Club of 1500 Women in Gulu City.
