Why Innovation

By promoting gender-inclusive innovation in Uganda, the Gender Tech Initiative Uganda will create a more equitable and inclusive innovation ecosystem that benefits all Ugandans. It will also help to promote the development of innovative technologies that address the unique challenges faced by women and other marginalized groups, leading to greater social and economic development for the country as a whole.

The Gender Tech Initiative Uganda aims to address these challenges by promoting gender-inclusive innovation through the following strategies:

  • Providing funding and resources for women-led tech startups: This strategy involves providing funding, mentorship, and resources such as office space and equipment to women-led tech startups. This will enable more women to enter the tech sector and promote the development of innovative technologies that address the unique needs and experiences of women.
  • Creating networks and platforms for women in tech: This strategy involves creating networks and platforms for women in tech to connect, collaborate, and share ideas. This will create a supportive ecosystem for women in tech and promote the exchange of knowledge and resources.
  • Supporting STEM education for girls: This strategy involves promoting STEM education for girls through mentorship programs, scholarships, and outreach initiatives. This will encourage more girls to pursue STEM careers and increase their participation in the innovation process.
  • Promoting gender-inclusive innovation policies: This strategy involves advocating for policies that promote gender equity and inclusion in the innovation sector, such as policies that address gender bias in funding and support women-led startups.
