GTI creates interactive and engaging experiences that promote STEM learning for girls who are often underrepresented in the field of STEM.

Tailored Training

Our training programs are tailored to address the specific needs of rural women and young school girls. To ensure access to digital literacy in remote areas, we intend to set up community-based ICT centers that allow women and young girls to learn and practice digital skills.Our ultimate goal is to empower rural women and young girls in Northern Uganda by providing them with the skills and resources needed to access digital opportunities and participate fully in the digital world.

The Gender Tech Initiative Uganda aims to address these challenges by promoting gender-inclusive trainings through the following strategies:

  • Mentoring Young Girls to Embrace STEM: At Gender Tech Initiative-Uganda (GTI) we are committed to bridging the gender gap in STEM and encouraging girls to embrace technology. To this end, we have organized several mentoring programs for young girls to expose them to the world of science, engineering, and technology. We have also partnered with schools to lobby for opportunities for promising girls in STEM.
  • Cyber Security Training for Female Journalists: With the rise of cyber threats and the increasing use of online platforms, it is important that journalists understand how to protect their online presence. At GTI, we have organized several training programs for female journalists to educate them on cyber threats and how to mitigate them. We believe that this will help to ensure that journalists can operate safely online while still doing their critical work without fear of reprisals
  • Training Rural Market Women on Digital Marketing: With the world becoming more and more digital, it is important that everyone has the necessary skills to participate in this fast-paced ecosystem. At GTI, we have organized several training programs for rural market women to equip them with the skills they need to compete in the digital marketplace. Our training covers all aspects of digital marketing, from social media to e-commerce platforms, and we believe this will help to create more opportunities and empower women in these areas.
  • Digital literacy. Digital literacy is an important skill to have as it helps women to access information, communicate effectively, and participate in the digital economy.We teach the basics of computer literacy, including how to use a keyboard, mouse, and basic computer software like Microsoft Word and Excel. We also provide access to technology resources like computers, tablets, and internet connectivity during our training.
